
Car Nicobar, July 13: As part of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a Sensitization Training on TB Screening of Vulnerable Population was conducted today in the Conference Hall of BDO Office, Car Nicobar, under the direction of Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District.
The training was led by Dr. Anwar Moosa, District TB Officer, Nicobar District, who presented a detailed Power Point session on TB screening and vulnerable population outreach. The training was attended by Shri Muneer Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Car Nicobar, Dr. Grace (NFSG), Medical Superintendent (I/c), BJR Hospital, along with the Medical Officer, District Programme Coordinator (DPC), PMDT Coordinator, Accountant, CHOs, And ANMs from BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar.
Additionally, through video conferencing, Shri Aditya Sangotra, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowrie and Shri Keshav Narendra Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay, along with Medical Officers, STSs, STLS, TBHV, CHOs, and ANMs from their respective blocks also participated in the session.
Dr. Anwar Moosa, District TB Officer and TB programme lead in the district, provided detailed guidance on screening strategies, case identification and Nikshay enrolment. The session focused on both Passive Case Finding (PCF) at the health facility level and Active Case Finding (ACF) through community outreach. Participants were trained on identifying high-risk individuals such as TB contacts, PLHIV, malnourished children, diabetics, elderly, and immunocompromised persons, and on the proper use of diagnostic tools like Chest X-ray and NAAT. Emphasis was placed on follow-up mechanisms, repeat screening every six months, and alternate plans for remote populations.
All Assistant Commissioners (ACs) of the three blocks participated in the training and assured supportive supervision and coordination at the block level. They committed to mobilizing resources and facilitating the smooth conduct of the TB elimination campaign, even in the district’s most remote areas.
