
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 5: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW), Directorate of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Directorate of Agriculture, organized a one-day training program on “Heliconia Bouquet Making and Tropical Flower Arrangement” today in the Agriculture Training Hall, Goalghar.
The Director (Agriculture) highlighted the favourable Agro-climatic conditions of the Islands and the promising potential of Heliconia as a commercially viable ornamental crop, particularly for local markets, tourism, floral decoration and value-added enterprises.
In the technical session, Dr. Nitu Sindhu (State Mission Coordinator, SHEW), delivered a presentation on ‘Opportunities in Heliconia Cultivation and Value Addition’.
A live demonstration on flower arrangement and bouquet making was conducted by Smti. Bhanumati (Farmer and Florist).
