Shivalaya Yoga Successfully Conducts International Yoga Day Competition 2025 at Bageecha

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 29: To mark the International Day of Yoga 2025 with the theme ‘Yoga for one earth, one health’, Shivalaya Yoga today conduced an open to all competition at Bageecha, Sri Vijaya Puram. The competition received an overwhelming participation from around 29 students of different age groups, in spite of the inclement weather conditions in the city.

The competition was divided into five categories Viz. Forward, Backward, Twisting, Balancing and an Asana of the participant’s choice. After a tough competition given by the participants, Dhanalaxmi emerged as the winner by securing the first position. The second and the third position was bagged by Jhanvi and Teesha Chatterjee respectively.

Shivalaya Yoga was founded this year by Yogacharya Shivani Singhapath, who is one of the very few islanders to have done her Masters in Yoga at Gurukul, Haridwar. Shivalaya Yoga focuses on the overall requirements of people performing yoga, which includes classes, equipment etc. The organisation can be reached through its website www.shivalayayoga.com  

Addressing the gathering Shri Denis Giles, Editor, Andaman Chronicle and Founder of Bageecha informed the audience about the project which has been running successfully since January 2023. Bageecha is a platform created by Andaman Chronicle to give a chance to the talents of the Islands to conduct activities. It is a platform which gives an opportunity for teaching and learning process for the betterment of the society, he said.

The competition concluded with a prize distribution to the winners of the competition. Certificates of participation and a return gift was also given away to all the participants, which was sponsored by Shivalaya Yoga.
