Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 9: The 15-day Short-Term Skill Development Training Program on Handicrafts, organized by the Directorate of Industries at Gram Panchayat (GP), Guptapara officially concluded today. The training initiative was specifically designed to empower local villagers and traditional craftspeople by imparting technical skills in crafting commercial and utility products using locally available eco-friendly raw materials, including coconut shells, wood, cane, bamboo, and coir.
A total of 20 trainees successfully completed the comprehensive hands-on program, acquiring specialized expertise in material processing, product design, and sustainable craft techniques. The skill development effort forms part of the ongoing initiatives by the Directorate of Industries to promote rural entrepreneurship, preserve indigenous craft traditions, and generate sustainable livelihood opportunities directly at the grassroots level.
The valedictory ceremony held at GP Guptapara was graced by the presence of officials of Directorate Shri Alvi Kutty, Deputy Director; Shri Liakat Ali, S.C.F and local representatives including Smti Alladi Roy, PRI Member and Smti Morine Das. The guests congratulated the trainees on their dedication and commended the high standard of products created during the 15-day session.
The villagers, SHGs and Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members expressed their appreciation to the Directorate of Industries for organizing such impactful skill development activities. They also applauded the enthusiastic participation and commitment shown by the trainees throughout the training, emphasizing that such local programs play a vital role in building self-reliant rural communities.
