
Car Nicobar, May 21: Smti. Sindhu Pillai A, ADGP, A&N Islands, visited Car Nicobar on 20.05.2026 to 21.05.2026 to review policing, welfare measures, and community outreach initiatives in the district.
During the visit, ADGP, ANI visited the Office of the Superintendent of Police District Nicobar and Police Station Car Nicobar. She also conducted a Sampark Sabha with personnel from Police, IRBn, Police Radio, Fire Service, and Home Guards. During the interaction, she patiently heard the grievances and issues faced by the personnel and assured them that their concerns would be addressed on priority with due consideration.
On 20.05.2026, ADGP, ANI also visited OP Sawai, where she inspected the functioning of the recently installed solar power system and reviewed the facilities created for the welfare of police personnel. She appreciated the good work carried out by the unit, including various welfare initiatives undertaken for the staff.
On 21.05.2026, ADGP, ANI inaugurated a newly renovated barrack for police personnel, which was earlier in a dilapidated condition. The renovation of the barrack has significantly improved accommodation facilities for the staff posted in the area and has largely resolved the accommodation-related difficulties being faced by them.
On 21.05.2026, as part of community policing and public outreach, ADGP, ANI also held meetings and a Jan Sunwai with Tribal Councils and Village Heads of Car Nicobar. During the interaction, she listened to their concerns and assured them of full support from the Police Department. She also appealed for community cooperation in preventing children and youth from falling prey to drug abuse, misuse of social media, and other anti-social activities.
The visit of ADGP, ANI proved to be a great morale booster for the personnel posted in Nicobar District. She also assured staff members whose tenure has been completed that the provisional transfer list would be issued shortly.
The visit reflects the commitment of the A&N Police towards personnel welfare, community engagement, and strengthening public confidence in policing across the islands.
