Diglipur, Aug 17: The much-awaited SP Cup Football Tournament-2025 commenced with great enthusiasm at Vivekananda Stadium, Diglipur on 15/08/2025. The tournament was inaugurated by Shri Kamleshwar Rao, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, in the gracious presence of Shri. Ankesh Yadav, SDPO Diglipur & other distinguished guests.
The tournament is organized on the theme “Fight against drugs’ and has been divided into two categories – Under-19 (Boys & Girls) and the Open category – ensuring opportunities for both young talents and experienced players to showcase their skills. A total of 26 teams from across the region are participating, promising intense competition and a vibrant display of footballing spirit throughout the event. The opening match featured an exciting Under-19 clash between GSSS Diglipur and GSSS Subashgram, which truly set the stage for an electrifying tournament ahead. Both teams displayed remarkable energy, skill, and determination, keeping the spectators engaged throughout the game. The competitive spirit combined with the enthusiastic support from the audience created an atmosphere filled with festivity, unity and sportsmanship, marking a perfect beginning to the tournament.
In the upcoming days, the tournament showcasing a series of competitive matches among school teams across the region. With every game promising thrilling goals, fierce rivalries, and moments of sheer sporting brilliance, the event is expected to generate widespread excitement and football fever throughout Diglipur.
