Sri Vijaya Puram, June 5: As part of the observance of World Environment Day 2025, the Department of Environment & Forests, A&N Administration, organized a special event at Government Saw Mill, Chatham. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Ending Plastic Pollution’. The Department reiterated its commitment to the spirit of this theme, actively engaging in regular beach clean-up drives and awareness programs aimed at addressing the growing menace of plastic pollution.
The Government Saw Mill, Chatham by supply of wood and wood-based products, plays a vital role in reducing the dependency on plastic and promoting sustainable alternatives. On this significant occasion, Shri A.K. Biswal, IFS, PCCF in the august presence of Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, PCCF, ANI inaugurated ‘Van Sanchar’, unveiled the bust of Durgaprasad and launched the e-SMART application.
The event was also marked by the tree plantation as part of national campaign of ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’. In their addresses, they stressed on the importance of reducing and mitigating plastic pollution and emphasized the vital contribution of Department of Environment and Forests.
