State Secretariat and State Organising Committee Meetings of CPI (M) Held at Shaheed Bhavan

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 13: The State Secretariat and State Organising Committee meetings of the CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar Islands were held at Shaheed Bhavan Anarkali, Port Blair on 12th July, 2025 in presence of K. Balakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member and Party Incharge for A & N Islands.  In the forenoon, the State Secretariat meeting was held in which the political situation in the islands and various problems faced by the islanders were reported through the Political and Organisational Report presented in the meeting by D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee.  The State Organising Committee meeting was held in the afternoon in which the functioning of the Party and class and mass organizations in the islands were discussed. Projit Kumar Sarkar, State Secretariat Member presided over the meetings.

Addressing the meeting of the State Orgnaising Committee, K. Balakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member made various suggestions to improve the functioning of the Party in the islands. He asked the Party leaders present in the meeting to implement the Tasks formulated by the 24th Party Congress CPI (M) and emphasized the need to strengthen the CPI (M) to combat the growth of communal forces in the islands. 

CPI (M) State Organising Committee meeting has decided to launch a territory-wide agitation on the issues of failure of BJP government and its Administration to resolve the problems in the Power, Roads, Health and Shipping sectors in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. CPI (M) will conduct a Raj Nivas March on 22nd August, 2025 at Port Blair and submit a Memorandum on the difficulties faced by the islanders on the above issues to the Lt Governor. Before this, extensive campaign throughout the islands will be carried out by the Party. The State Plan for implementing the Task of the 24th Party Congress of CPI (M) held in April, 2025 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu was presented in the meetings by the State Secretary which was discussed and decisions to implement it effectively were taken. 

The Party meeting has adopted a resolution urging the Government of India to establish Legislative Assembly on the Pondicherry model for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in order to have participation of the people in the governance of the island territory. 

The Party meeting has expressed its concern over the massive corruption, mismanagement and nepotism in the Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank Ltd controlled by the Congress Party and the overt and covert support extended to it by the central government and BJP leaders in the islands.

On his arrival at Port Blair Airport on 12th July, 2025, K. Balakrishnan was given a warm welcome by CPI (M) leaders and Party workers led by D. Ayyappan, State Secretary. 

A meeting of the Party Members of Port Blair town and rural South Andaman was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair on 13th July, 2025. K. Balakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member briefly explained the decisions of the Central Committee meeting of the party held at New Delhi from 3rd to 5th June, 2025. Addressing the meeting he said that the United States continues to pursue interventionist and coercive policies. Indian government is surrendering before the US imperialism. He said that the BJP/RSS have intensified their communal campaign, spreading hatred against the minorities in the country.  He accused the BJP government of aggressively pursuing its neoliberal policies benefiting its corporate cronies.  He further said that these policies of the government are being resisted by the workers and farmers in the country and said that the success of the All India General Strike on 9th July, 2025 is an indication to this resistance.  D. Laxman Rao and B. Chandrachoodan, State Secretariat Members also addressed the meeting.
