Steadfast Police Efforts Ensure Justice in POCSO Case

Diglipur, Dec. 10: The North & Middle Andaman Police once again upholds their unwavering dedication to justice demonstrating the determination in ensuring swift and decisive action against sexual offenders.

On 09/12/2025, the Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO), Sh. Subhajit Basu, delivered judgment in Crime No. 01/2024 of PS Diglipur, sentencing the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 50,000/-.

This outcome reflects the relentless pursuit of justice and the meticulous investigation carried out by Sub-Inspector Deepti Minj (IO) and Inspr. K. Binoj, the then SHO PS Diglipur. Their dedication, professionalism and tireless efforts were instrumental in securing justice for the victim and ensuring the accused was held accountable for his crime.

The crime involved the victim girl, who was abused by the accused on the way while she was returning from her friend’s house. On 03/01/2025, upon receiving the victim’s complaint, a case was registered at PS Diglipur U/s 5(j)(ii)/6 of POCSO Act 2012 r.w.s. 376 IPC spearheading swift legal action against the accused.

This judgment sends a clear and strong message on crimes against children will face the harshest legal consequences. The Andaman & Nicobar Police upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward such heinous acts and remains firmly committed to protecting the safety and dignity of our most vulnerable citizens.
