Street Chess Captivates Bakultala Junction with a Community Celebration

Bakultala, July 30: The Department of Education, A&N Administration, in association with the Bakultala Panchayat, successfully organized a vibrant Street Chess event this evening at Bakultala Junction, drawing an enthusiastic and diverse crowd of chess lovers from the local community and beyond.

The busy Bakultala Junction was turned into a lively open-air chess arena, where people of all ages came together to play fun and friendly games. The street was full of energy, with laughter, thoughtful moves, and people watching with interest — truly showing the joy and excitement of chess.

The event was jointly inaugurated by Shri V. Ranjit Kumar, Assistant Director (PE/Sports), DEO Rangat, and Shri Bishunu Pada Mondal, Samiti Member, Bakultala, who made the ceremonial first move on the chessboard to kickstart the evening.

In his address, the Assistant Director of Sports highlighted the growing popularity of chess across the islands, noting that the game not only enhances concentration and decision-making skills but also helps steer children away from excessive screen time and negative habits.

The event received an overwhelming response from the local community. Schoolchildren and members of the general public participated in large numbers, displaying admirable sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and a shared love for chess. As a gesture of appreciation, all participants were felicitated with gifts.

The Principal and staff of GSSS Bakultala played a key role in coordinating the event and facilitating active participation from students and the local community.
