
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 11: RED RUN, a State Level Marathon of 5 Km for the College students and General Public was organized by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) under the direction of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), MoHFW, GoI. on 11th September 2026. Students from 12 colleges across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, along with over 150 members of general public, participated in the marathon.
The Red Run Marathon was flagged off by Ms. Sandhya Kispotta, a well-known kayaker who graced the event as Chief Guest. Her sporting achievement has an impressive tally of 39 Gold Medals, 30 Silver Medals and 31 Bronze Medals in the National Games and Championships. Her presence was an inspiration for the participants of Red Run.
Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS in his special note welcomed all the participants and also informed on various aspects of HIV & AIDS
In the male category of college students, Mr. Paarthive Ram from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) secured 1st position, followed by Mr. N. Ronit Kumar from JNRM, who secured 2nd position, and Mr. A.R. Sanjay from Andaman College (ANCOL), who secured 3rd position.
In the female category of college students, Ms. Aamrika Das from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) secured 1st position, Ms. Stuthy from Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE) secured 2nd position, and Ms. Srima Mondal from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) secured 3rd position.
In the male category of the General Public, Mr. Ram Bahadur Somai secured 1st position, Mr. Minama Shaileshkumar Bharatbhai secured 2nd position, and Mr. Raja secured 3rd position.
In the female category of the General Public, Ms. P. Alagammal secured 1st position, Ms. V. Sirusha secured 2nd position, and Ms. Vinita Lakra secured 3rd position.
The route of the Marathon was from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (J.N.R.M.) to Science Centre and back. The marathon was organized to create awareness on HIV&AIDS. The marathon was for the college students and was open for the general public. For the College level, the competition was conducted at various levels. The winners from each college from all the three districts of A& N Islands participated in this State Level Marathon. College students were from ANCOL, Andaman Law College, ANIIMS, DBRAIT, DIET, ITI Dollygunj, JNRM, Pondicherry University Brookshabad Campus, TGCE, Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder and ITI Car Nicobar.
The first and the second winners of both the male and female category of college level will be participating in the National Level Red Run to be organized by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), MoHFW, GoI.
