Successful Anti-Poaching Operation by Andaman & Nicobar Command Results in Apprehension of 9 Poachers

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 26: On the basis of credible intelligence inputs regarding suspected poaching activity in the vicinity of Landfall Island, the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) launched a swift and coordinated maritime operation on the night of 24 April 26.

Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajveer was immediately deployed to the area, commencing an intensive search operation.

At around 2230 hrs, ICGS Rajveer successfully intercepted a suspicious poaching boat off Landfall Island. Upon boarding and investigation, a total of nine poachers were apprehended. The individuals were found equipped with diving gear, indicating organised and deliberate illegal exploitation of marine resources in Indian EEZ.

The apprehended personnel along with the seized vessel have been taken into custody for further legal action in coordination with local law enforcement agencies.

This successful operation highlights the Andaman & Nicobar Command’s operational synergy and unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s maritime frontiers. The Command continues to maintain round-the-clock vigilance and remains resolute in its efforts to deter and counter all forms of illegal activities in the region while protecting the fragile marine ecosystem of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
