Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 13: In continuation of its persistent measures to keep pedestrian pathways accessible and civic infrastructure intact, the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) conducted a major anti-encroachment drive in the Dairy Farm area today.
During the enforcement drive, the municipal team removed several unauthorized shop extensions, display racks, and makeshift structures erected over public footpaths and storm-water drains. Commercial operators found encroaching upon pedestrian right-of-way were penalized, and all physical obstructions were cleared immediately.
The Council reiterates that encroaching on footpaths and drainage channels compromises pedestrian safety and causes acute waterlogging during rainfall. Similar clearance drives have been carried out in previous weeks across municipal limits, and strict enforcement will continue unabated.
All shopkeepers, business establishments, and residents are strictly advised to refrain from occupying footpaths, public corridors, and road margins. The SVPMC also urges vigilant citizens to report any fresh instances of encroachment or drainage obstruction to the Municipal Council for prompt action.
