Sri Vijaya Puram, May 27: In view of the prevailing water shortage in Sri Vijaya Puram, the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, with the support of the Directorate of Shipping Services, has undertaken additional measures to augment water supply for the benefit of the general public.
As part of these temporary supportive arrangements to address the current shortfall, water is being transported by ship from Little Andaman to Sri Vijaya Puram. Continuing these efforts, a total of 90 tonnes of water was received on 27th May, 2026 through MV Sentinel and subsequently delivered to the Lamba Line Water Treatment Plant (WTP) for treatment and further distribution. SVPMC has so far collected a total of 231 tonnes of water transported by ship and barge.
The Council is closely monitoring the situation and is taking all necessary measures to sustain the water supply system and minimize inconvenience to the residents.
The Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council sincerely appreciates the cooperation and support extended by the general public during this period.
