Hutbay Sept. 19: A Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive was organized at the Fish Landing Jetty, Hut Bay, Little Andaman today. The event which was led by Shri S. Parmanathan, Pramukh, Little Andaman and coordinated by the Block Development Officer, Little Andaman witnessed enthusiastic participation of officers and staff from all local line Departments, PRI representatives, and members of the general public.
During the drive, the surrounding seashore of the Fish Landing Jetty were thoroughly cleaned, waste materials were collected and disposed of in a systematic manner, and awareness was created among the local community regarding the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public places. The programme also emphasized the role of community participation in ensuring a sustainable clean environment. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign in Little Andaman was formally launched on 17th September, 2025 and is scheduled to continue till 2nd October, 2025, covering different Panchayats and habitations of the Island in a phased and systematic manner.
