
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 17: The 8th Review Meeting under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan for South Andaman District was held today in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The meeting was chaired by Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman).
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of TB elimination activities in the district. Shri Arjun Sharma reviewed the current status of case detection, notification, treatment adherence, Ni-kshay Mitra adoption and community participation.
Expressing concern over the low percentage of X-ray-based screening in several health facilities, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers to immediately scale up X-ray screening, emphasizing that X-ray is one of the most effective tools for early detection of TB, particularly among symptomatic and high-risk populations.
The meeting was attended by the Joint Secretary (NTEP), Microbiologist, District TB Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Officers In-charge of CHCs/PHCs/UHCs of South Andaman District, and officials & staff of the District Health Society, South Andaman.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the general public to avail free X-ray screening being organized at the community level on:
•18th November, 2025 at Anganwadi Centre, Macca Pahad; AAM Hope Town and AAM Shore Point.
•19th November, 2025 at Community Hall, Lal Pahad and AWC Brookshabad-1.
Reiterating the firm commitment of the District Administration to make South Andaman TB Mukt at the earliest, Shri Arjun Sharma called upon all stakeholders, health officials, Ni-kshay Mitras and the community to work with renewed dedication to achieve this ambitious national goal.
