Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 22: Shri Anil Kumar Tiwari, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, A&N Islands, in a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands, has humbly requested him to enhance the pension amount which is being disbursed to Old Aged / Widow and Divyang people.
In his letter Shri Anil Tiwari referred to his meetings with various organisations and the beneficiaries regarding the matter and has observed that under the current price index particularly in our Islands, it is just impossible for Old Aged / Widow and Divyang people to survive on a meagre pension amount of Rs 2500/- per month. Giving a sympathetic consideration of the issue pertaining to the marginalised section of the society, Shri Tiwari has urged the Hon’ble LG to immediately enhance the pension from the current amount of Rs 2500/- to Rs 5000/- per month.
This will go a long way in solving the multiple problems being faced by these poor and marginalized people living in our Islands, Shri Tiwari has stated in the letter.
