Car Nicobar, May 24: A Basic Life Support (BLS) training session was conducted at BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar in coordination with Fire Service Department, Nicobar division under the guidance of Dr. Grace, Medical Superintendent, BJR Hospital and Shri S.K. Vishnoi, Inspector Fire, Nicobar District, to enhance emergency response skills among healthcare workers and support staff.
The session was led by Dr. Mohammed Shafique, GDMO (Homoeo), with the aim of equipping participants with life-saving techniques crucial during cardiac and respiratory emergencies and Shri S. Subba Raj, Station Officer, Fire Station, Car Nicobar.
The training covered key components of Basic Life Support including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Management of Choking, Convulsions etc. and Fire Safety Training. Practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions ensured that participants could confidently apply these techniques in real-life scenarios.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Grace, Medical Superintendent, BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar emphasized the importance of timely intervention in saving lives and encouraged all healthcare providers to remain up-to-date with emergency protocols. “Basic Life Support is a fundamental skill that can make the difference between life and death. This training ensures that our team is better prepared to respond effectively in critical situations,” she stated.
Dr. Sahina Sameer, SMO, BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar urged all the participants to conduct training sessions for a larger group involving field workers like ASHA and Anganwadi Workers.
The participants expressed their gratitude for the valuable training and pledged to apply their new knowledge in their professional roles and appreciated the initiative and stressed the need for regular capacity-building programs to strengthen emergency healthcare services in the region.
