TSG Bhasker Demands Fresh Mandate After Massive Voter Deletion in A&N, Calls for MP’s Resignation

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 5: The Chairman of the Campaign Committee of Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Shri TSG Bhasker, has raised serious concerns over the reported large-scale deletion of voters in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and has demanded an immediate review of the exercise.

According to the figures cited by Shri Bhasker, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency had 3,27,323 electors during the 2024 Lok Sabha Election, whereas the present roll following the SIR reportedly contains around 2,58,040 electors. This represents a reported reduction of 69,283 electors (21 %).

“If these voters were ineligible, then the sitting Member of Parliament from A&N Islands must immediately resign from his post because he won from the mandate of these votes”, stated Shri. Bhasker.

Similarly, he said that more than 13.3 crore voter names have been wiped out in the SIR in the country. In such circumstances, the Government sitting in the Centre must also resign immediately who won from these votes.

He demanded to make public the booth-wise details of the deleted names, along with the reasons for each deletion, so that affected citizens and political parties can verify the exercise.

He further demanded to cancel the SIR process in A&N Islands and restore the original electoral rolls.
