Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 24: In an intelligence led operation on 20.09.2026, staff and workers of Tushnabad Range under South Andaman Forest Division intercepted a vehicle with three persons onboard at Hathitapu. Upon searching the vehicle bearing Registration No. AN 01 G 6493, 16.5 kg of Venison, 02 Nos. Asian Fairy-bluebird (dead), 02 Nos Air guns, 01 No. Fishing rod, 01 No. Dah, 01 No.Kadai with lid, 01 No. Knife and 554 Nos. Air-gun pellets were found. The team immediately seized the vehicle and the contraband along with tools and guns used to commit the offence and apprehended three persons.
A case under various section of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, has been registered and the accused were produced before the Hon’ble Court of CJM, Sri Vijaya Puram. The Court further remanded the accused to judicial custody.
The seized wildlife articles, equipment and vehicle have been taken into custody for detailed investigation and further necessary legal proceedings under the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and other applicable laws.
