
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 30: The Andaman & Nicobar Police, through the Police Family Welfare Centre (PFWC), Police Lines organised “UDAAN Summer Camp–2026”, from 18th May to 29th June, which concluded with a valedictory ceremony held at Police Lines, Sri Vijaya Puram yesterday.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands, as the chief guest, in the presence of Smt. Sindhu Pillai A., IPS, ADGP, A&N Islands, Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, IGP, A&N Islands, other senior officers of the Andaman & Nicobar Police, distinguished guests, parents, coaches and participants.
Addressing the gathering, the Director General of Police emphasised the importance of sports and constructive activities in shaping disciplined, confident and responsible youth. He encouraged children to actively participate in sports and co-curricular activities, highlighting their role in promoting physical and mental well-being and steering young minds away from drug abuse and other social evils.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation of 341 children, providing them with opportunities for holistic development through activities including Athletics, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess, Yoga & Meditation, Dance, Painting, Sketching, Tailoring and Boxing under the guidance of experienced coaches and departmental personnel. Notably, the youngest participant was a five-year-old girl, whose enthusiastic participation reflected the camp’s inclusive and encouraging spirit.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Niyati Mittal Kashyap, Superintendent of Police (Armed Police Unit).
