UT Level Event ‘Tiranga Utsav’ Organised Today as Part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign 2025

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 12: ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (HGT) campaign 2025 is being celebrated from August 2 to 15, 2025, as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The initiative aims to instil spirit of patriotism and national pride among citizens by encouraging every Indian to hoist the National Flag, the Tiranga.

As part of the nationwide celebration of Har Ghar Tiranga 2025, the Directorate of Art & Culture, A&N Administration organized a UT Level event titled ‘Tiranga Mahotsav’ in auditorium of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram today.

Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd), the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands & Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency was the chief guest on the occasion. The event featured cultural performances & photo exhibition on patriotic theme, and a Tiranga Mela by SHGs under the Rural Development Department.   The function was also attended by Chief Secretary, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, PCCF, Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Art & Culture), Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Chairperson, SVPMC, Shri Shahul Hameed, Secretary (Art & Culture), Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, and other senior officers of A&N Administration.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor presented trophies and certificates to the winners of the inter-collegiate dance competition based on patriotic theme. The first prize was won by TGCE, while second & third prizes were won by ANCOL & DBRAIT respectively. JNRM won consolation prize.

Welcoming the gathering, Secretary (Art & Culture), highlighted that this year marks the fourth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. She informed that the Ministry of Culture has sent 30,000 National Flags through Postal Department for household distribution. She said, the Postal Department has also informed that more Flags would be arriving shortly to ensure wider participation. She further stated that the initiative of Har Ghar Tiranga aims to ensure that every household across the Islands proudly hoists the National Flag and becomes part of the collective celebration of patriotism.

The cultural performance segment began with soul-stirring songs on patriotism by local cultural organization.

The event also featured a patriotic-themed photo exhibition and a Tiranga Mela by SHGs under the Rural Development Department, offering tricolour-inspired handicrafts and artefacts.

Proposing the vote of thanks, Ms. Priyanka Kumari, Director, Art & Culture, acknowledged the contributions of all Departments, cultural groups, and participants for making the event a resounding success.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, celebrated under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, urges citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and workplaces, honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters and strengthening emotional bonds with the Tricolour.
