Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Organised at INS Utkrosh and RSN Godown

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 13: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) along with Blood Centre, G. B. Pant Hospital, Directorate of Health Services supported INS Utkrosh, Lamba Line and RSN, Dollygunj, Sri Vijaya Puram to organize a blood donation camp at their premises on 9th may 2025 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Naval Station, while the camp at RSN godown was organized on 10th may 2025 in loving memory of RSN Sadha Bhaiya. All together total 38 units of blood from INS Utkrosh and 32 units of blood from RSN were donated by the voluntary donors.

The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands. 

The Blood Donation camp was facilitated by the Dr. Shilpa Vijay Sankhe Medical Officer (Blood Bank), ANIIMS, G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donate blood and briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation.

Shri. Sachin Bharadhwaj R, Surgeon Commander, Principal Medical Officer for Commanding Officer, INS Utkrosh, Lamba line and S P Suresh Kumar, President, Lions Club of Aberdeen Andaman, Sri Vijaya Puram, A & N Islands respectively organized the camp and made arrangement for conducting the camp successfully.

The technical team from Blood Center, G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram and A & N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units are screened for the blood transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility criteria. Donors certificate were also distributed to the voluntary donors.
