Weightlifters from SAI STC Car Nicobar Deliver Outstanding Performance at ASMITA Khelo India South Zone Women’s League

Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 5: Weightlifters from SAI STC Car Nicobar, representing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, delivered outstanding performances at the Weightlifting Championship of ASMITA Khelo India South Zone Women’s League held from 1st to 5th December, 2025 at Thrissur, Kerala. The athletes showcased exceptional determination and competitive spirit across various categories.

Ms. Tanyasha (15 years), Vikas Nagar Village of Nancowry Island participated in Youth Girls 63 kg Category. She emerged as the standout performer, securing 1st place (Gold Medal) in the Youth Girls 63 kg category with a total lift of 130 kg (Snatch – 56 kg, Clean & Jerk – 74 kg). She clinched the top position after a close contest with strong competitors from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Ms. Alaska Aleena (19 years), Chukchucha Village of Car Nicobar participated in Senior Women 49 kg Category. She achieved a total lift of 110 kg (Snatch – 49 kg, Clean & Jerk – 61 kg), securing 3rd place (Bronze Medal).

Ms. M.R. Prithika (15 years), Tapoiming Village of Car Nicobar took part in Youth Girls 53 kg Category. She lifted a total of 101 kg (Snatch – 43 kg, Clean & Jerk – 58 kg) to secure 3rd place (Bronze Medal).     

These achievements come under the expert guidance of Shri S. Chidambara Rajan, Weightlifting Coach at SAI STC Car Nicobar. His dedicated training and disciplined coaching have played a pivotal role in shaping the athletes’ success.

The performances highlight the rising strength of weightlifting talent from Car Nicobar and reflect the commitment of SAI STC to nurturing young sporting excellence.
