Sri Vijaya Puram, March 8: The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) successfully organized the Women’s Day Chess Tournament on 8th March 2026 at the ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm, Sri Vijaya Puram, in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event witnessed great energy, enthusiasm, and a large number of women chess players participated with great spirit.
The tournament aimed to encourage and promote the participation of women in chess while celebrating their growing achievements and presence in the sport. The event also aligned with this year’s theme highlighted by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) for Women’s Day, which focuses on increasing the visibility of women players, strengthening community engagement, and building a global network for women in chess.
After several closely contested rounds, Nandini clinched the first position to emerge as the winner of the tournament. G Manisha secured the second place, while G Sudha finished third.
The top three players were awarded trophies in recognition of their excellent performance, while all other participants were felicitated with medals in appreciation of their participation and enthusiasm for the game.
