
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 17: Yoga session was organized at the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), A&N Islands, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, as part of the upcoming International Day of Yoga- 2026 in association with the Department of AYUSH, Sri Vijaya Puram, at its premises in Brookshabad.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from persons with disabilities, parents, caregivers, siblings, staff members, and interns, reflecting the spirit of inclusion and community well-being. In her keynote address, Smt. Sumithamol, Director, CRC A&N Islands, highlighted the importance of adopting yoga as a way of life to enhance overall health and quality of life for all sections of society, including persons with disabilities.
An interactive and inclusive yoga session was conducted by Ms. Soma, Yoga Instructor, AYUSH, who demonstrated various yoga postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises suitable for participants of different age groups and abilities. The session encouraged active participation from all attendees and reinforced this year’s International Day of Yoga theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’.
