In a significant judgment pronounced on 27/06/2025, the Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO), Shri Subhajit Basu, sentenced the accused Brojan Biswas to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.50,000/- in connection with Crime No. 10/2022 of PS Diglipur under the POCSO Act, 2012.
This verdict stands as a testament to the diligent efforts of the investigating team—Inspector Kabita Kritonia and Sub-Inspector Deepti Minj under the leadership of the then SHO Inspector N.S Stalin, PS Diglipur. Their unwavering pursuit of truth, professional acumen and relentless work were instrumental in securing justice for the victim.
The case involved the horrifying act of sexual assault by the victim’s maternal grandfather. Upon the victim’s disclosure, a case U/s 5(j)(ii)(n)/6 of the POCSO Act, 2012 was promptly registered at PS Diglipur, initiating swift and coordinated legal action against the accused.
This landmark judgment sends out a strong and clear message that crimes against children will be met with the harshest consequences.
