38th National Under-09 Chess Championship 2025 is Underway in Haryana

Gurugram, June 19: The 38th National Under-09 Chess Championship 2025 is currently underway in Gurugram, Haryana, drawing the participation of nearly 500 budding chess players from across the country.

Among the participants, two promising young players from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, viz. Saw Jinson Samuel and S Eshaan, are competing with determination and skill. Proudly representing the Union Territory on the national stage, they are gaining invaluable exposure and competitive experience, further enhancing their chess abilities and confidence.

The championship is being played in the classical format under the Swiss system over 11 rounds, conducted across 7 days from 15th to 21st June 2025. Each game follows a time control of 90 minutes with a 30-second increment per move, in line with international standards set by FIDE.

A total cash prize of ₹5,00,000 has been announced for the event, to be distributed among the top 20 players in both Boys and Girls categories. The competition is intense, with several rated and emerging players vying for national recognition and future international opportunities.

The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) has extended its best wishes to the players and expressed hope that this valuable exposure will boost their confidence, enhance their playing skills, and help them bring laurels to the islands.
