Social Welfare in Association with Bhrama Kumaris Conduct Program on Basic Health and Wellness Skill at Abhyudaya

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 19: As part of Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY), the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has signed an MoU with Brahma Kumaris for improving the overall wellbeing of senior citizens of the country. As per the directions received from GoI, it has been directed to coordinate by holding camps with the Brahma Kumaris and in view of this, the Department of Social Welfare, A&N Administration with the objective of accomplishing the MoU by the Ministry has prepared a calendar of events to be organized during the current financial year.

As part of the series of programs, the first program on Basic Health and Wellness Skill was organized at Old Age Home, Abhyudaya Complex at Ferrargunj which was attended by the inmates of the Old Age Home. The participant also included young boys who are also housed within the same complex. Sister Sharmista from the Brahma Kumaris dwelt at length on maintaining mental health which is an ongoing process and involves taking care of one’s emotional, psychological and social wellbeing. A session on Yoga and meditation was also organized by Sister Sharmista. The next programme will be organized on July 3, 2025 at Guptapara with the help of PRI Members of the area.

The program was coordinated by Smti Monalisa Biswas, Supervisor and Smti Sheela Kar, In-charge of Senior Citizen Home at Ferrargunj under the overall guidance of Ms. Reeta Devi, Nodal Officer (Senior Citizen).
