Little Andaman Claims the Championship with 2-0 Victory Over Car Nicobar

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 26: The 7th State Level U-17 Boys Football Tournament came to a thrilling conclusion today at Netaji Stadium, where Little Andaman claimed the Championship title with a convincing 2–0 victory over Car Nicobar in a highly anticipated grand finale.
Both teams displayed exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination, but it was Little Andaman, who seized the key moments of the match, scoring twice and holding firm in defense to lift the coveted trophy. With this victory, Little Andaman has earned the honour of representing the Union Territory in the prestigious Subroto Cup Football Championship, scheduled to be held in New Delhi in August/September 2025.
The grand finale began on a ceremonial note with Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary of A&N Administration, as the chief guest. The Chief Secretary met players of both teams and interacted with them. He then ceremonially handed over the match ball to the Chief Referee, officially signaling the start of the finale amidst applause from the crowd.
It was a case of tough luck for Car Nicobar, who fought valiantly throughout the tournament and gave a spirited performance in the final. Despite the loss, their journey was marked by resilience and talent, earning admiration from fans and football lovers across the Islands.
Earlier in the day, Nancowrie secured third place after a well-contested win over Rangat at JNRM Ground, wrapping up the tournament on a high note. Special awards were also presented to recognize individual excellence during the tournament. George Alwyn of GMSSS Hut Bay, Little Andaman was named the Best Goalkeeper, with his exceptional reflexes and crucial saves playing a pivotal role in his team’s title-winning campaign. The Highest Scorer award went to Aryan Kumar Kullu of GSSS Oralkatcha, Rangat Zone, who impressed with his consistent and outstanding attacking performance throughout the tournament.
