IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair Organizes Students’ Discussion Forum on ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023’

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 13: The Indira Gandhi National Open University, Regional Centre, Port Blair organised a special event to celebrate the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023, and to felicitate outstanding female students for their achievements in various field. Discussions on the immediate implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023 was held at Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Dollygunj, Sri Vijaya Puram and was aimed at educating students about the transformative impact of the new 33% reservation law for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. A debate competition was organized among the women students of ITI and the women participants expressed their views and deliberated upon issues relating to gender gaps in the representation of women.

The programme begun with the IGNOU, Regional Director and Coordnator of the programme Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Jacob’s speech about the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023’.  IGNOU Assistant Regional Director Dr. Uday Kumar gave the guidelines to the participants for discussion. More than 100 students were attended in the programme in which 10 women students participated in discussion on the topic “Challenges and implications of under-representation of women in politics and bureaucracy” and IGNOU, Regional Centre, Port Blair awarded medals and certificates to the winners of the competition 1st, Binita Saha, 2nd Neeshita Jaidhar and S. Zaida Karim and 3rd Disha and certificate of participation were also given to all the participants.
