
Sri Vijaya Puram, April 24: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology (DST), A&N Administration, Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), and the Chamber of Commerce successfully organized an expert lecture on the occasion of Earth Day 2026 at the DBRAIT Conference Hall.
The session featured distinguished international expert Prof. Khaled Loubar a renowned Scientist and Associate Professor from IMT Atlantique, Nantes, France, who delivered an insightful lecture on the topic “Research activities at IMT Atlantique related to the valorization of waste and residues: solutions, treatments and challenges.”
The programme was graced by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Sanmukh Kaur, Principal of DBRAIT, and Guest of Honour Shri Devdas Paik, Honorary Secretary, IEI. The event was made possible through the efforts of Shri P. Uma Maheswar Rao, Environmental Engineer, DST (ANPCC), and a proud alumnus of DBRAIT and IIT Delhi. The programme was coordinated by Shri Altamash Mustafa, Assistant Professor (Civil Engineering), Associate Dean IQAC DBRAIT.
The lecture focused on cutting-edge waste-to-resource technologies, emphasizing sustainable solutions tailored to island ecosystems like the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Prof. Loubar elaborated on innovative treatment methods, challenges in waste management, and the importance of integrating research with practical applications.
An engaging interactive session followed, where participants—including members of IEI, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, faculty, staff, and B.Tech students—actively discussed local waste management issues and explored potential avenues for collaborative research.
The programme concluded on a positive note, significantly enhancing awareness about sustainable environmental practices. It also encouraged students to pursue research in environmental technologies and strengthened institutional collaboration between DBRAIT, IEI, DST, Chamber of commerce and international academia.
The event marked a meaningful contribution to Earth Day celebrations, reinforcing the collective commitment towards environmental sustainability and innovation for future generations.
