ANTCC Observes 35th Death Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Late Rajiv Gandhi

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 21: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) today on 21st May, 2026 solemnly observed the 35th Death Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Late Rajiv Gandhi Ji, former Prime Minister of India, at the Congress Office, Gandhi Bhavan, Port Blair.

The observance commenced with the garlanding of the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi Ji by ANTCC President Shri Rangalal Halder, Chairman, Campaign Committee (ANTCC) Shri G. Bhasker, AICC Member Shri Hamid Ali, ANTCC Spokesperson Shri. K Ganeshan, Mahila Congress Leaders Smt. Pushpanjali Raju, Smt. Ratna Kannan & Smt. Malati Mondal followed by floral tributes offered by several senior Congress leaders, party functionaries and workers.

During the observance, party leaders fondly remembered the immense contributions and visionary leadership of Rajiv Gandhi towards strengthening India’s unity, democracy, technological advancement and Panchayati Raj system. Leaders highlighted his historic role in modernising the nation, empowering the youth, promoting communication and information technology, and his commitment towards the welfare of the poor and marginalised sections of society.

Speakers also recalled Rajiv Gandhi’s sacrifices for the nation and stated that his ideals of secularism, harmony, inclusive development and national integration continue to inspire generations of Congress workers across the country.

Further, Late. Raju Varghese, R/o Hutbay, a dedicated and active Congress Party worker, was also fondly remembered and paid heartfelt tributes by the party leaders and workers for his sincere service and contribution towards the organisation.

Several party leaders including Senior Leaders, AICC Members, TCC Members, Block Congress Committee representatives, Mahila Congress President and its Committee Members, Congress Seva Dal Chief Organizer and its Committee Members, NSUI State President, Youth Congress representatives, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan Chairman and its Committee Members, representatives of Unorganised Workers Committee, Municipal Chairperson & Councilors, Zilla Parishad Members, PRI Members and Congress Party workers were present on the solemn occasion and paid heartfelt tributes to the departed leaders.
