Sri Vijaya Puram, May 21: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) President, Shri Rangalal Halder, has addressed a letter to the Secretary (Health), A & N Administration, requesting immediate repair, maintenance, or replacement of the Diesel Generator (DG) Set installed at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Hutbay, in Little Andaman.
In his letter, Shri Rangalal Halder drew attention to the non-functioning and deteriorated condition of the existing DG Set at PHC Hutbay. He stated that the malfunctioning DG Set is unable to provide uninterrupted power supply to the health centre, causing serious inconvenience and hardship to patients, especially during power outages.
He further highlighted that essential healthcare services, including emergency treatment, storage of medicines and vaccines, and other critical medical facilities, are being adversely affected due to the irregular power supply. Considering the importance of uninterrupted electricity in a healthcare institution, particularly in a remote island area like Hutbay, Shri Halder urged the Health Department to take immediate necessary steps for the repair and proper maintenance of the existing DG Set.
The ANTCC President also requested that if the present DG Set is beyond repair, a new DG Set may kindly be provided at the earliest in the larger interest of public health and patient care for the residents of Hutbay and surrounding areas.
