Sri Vijaya Puram, May 29: As part of the ongoing “Chalchitra Andaman Nicobar Film Festival – 2026”, the much-acclaimed Hindi film ‘Mirch Masala’, starring legendary actors Late Smita Patil and Naseeruddin Shah, was screened today at the Anthropological Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram. The Film Festival is being organized by the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T), A&N Administration, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). The Festival commenced on May 22 and will continue till June 21, 2026, with screenings scheduled every Friday and Saturday.
Directed by noted Filmmaker Ketan Mehta, ‘Mirch Masala’ is regarded as one of Indian cinema’s most powerful films, highlighting themes of women’s resistance and social justice. The screening drew appreciation from cinema enthusiasts attending the Festival.
Meanwhile, two more acclaimed films will be screened tomorrow (May 30) at the Anthropological Auditorium. ‘Village Rockstars’ will be screened from 11 am onwards, followed by ‘Manjummel Boys’ at 5.30 pm.

Interested participants have been informed that registration for movie screenings is being facilitated through QR code circulated through official platforms and social media handles of the Directorate. However, the shows are shown free of cost and the Directorate of IP&T has invited students, local filmmakers, photographers, drone operators, travel vloggers, social media influencers, theatre groups, film clubs, tourists and members of the general public to actively participate in the Film Festival and experience the richness and diversity of Indian cinema.
