Sri Vijaya Puram, June 22: The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has been conferred with a Plaque of Appreciation by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, during the Regional Passport Officers’ Conference & Passport Seva Divas 2026 held in New Delhi on 19th June, 2026.
The prestigious award was presented in recognition of the Administration’s high level of service, commitment, and contribution to good governance in the delivery of passport services to citizens of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 2025–2026. The award was conferred by Dr. S. Jaishankar, Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, Government of India.
This national recognition highlights the dedicated efforts of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Regional Passport Office, Postal Services and all stakeholders involved in ensuring efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric passport services across the Islands. Despite geographical challenges and the remote nature of the Union Territory, the Administration has consistently worked towards providing timely and accessible passport-related services to residents.
The award also reflects the growing importance of passport services in facilitating international travel, education, employment, business, and tourism opportunities for the people of the Islands. The increasing international connectivity of the region, including enhanced air links through Veer Savarkar International Airport, has further strengthened the need for efficient passport service delivery.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, the Administration reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving public service delivery and ensuring that citizens receive best passport services with ease and convenience.
The honour serves as a testament to the collective efforts of all departments, personnel and Police authorities associated with the Passport Seva Programme under the guiding principle “Together We Serve, Together We Excel”.
