Sri Vijaya Puram, July 21: Continuing its sustained offensive against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station (ANPS), CID, achieved another significant success by apprehending one person and seizing 2.145 Kg of Ganja during a late-night house search operation on 20.07.2026 at CARI Road, Bathu Basti, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the possession of illicit Ganja for sale in the local market, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station team swiftly constituted a raiding party and proceeded to the identified location. The raid was conducted by the team led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, comprising SI Deva Raju, ASI Sanjay Yadav, HC(SG) Ratan Das, PC M. Raja Rao, PC Anup Das, PC Basarat Ali, LPC Tamil Selvi and PC(D) Samir Kr. Dey, under the supervision of Smti. Suma Madda, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics).
Upon reaching the spot, two independent witnesses were associated with the proceedings. Thereafter, the team conducted a search of the rented house of the suspect after following all prescribed legal procedures and in the presence of the independent witnesses and the house owner.
During the late-night operation, the ANPS team maintained surveillance at the identified location and, after confirming the identity of the suspect and the premises, approached the rented house of Shyamapada Mandal, S/o Late Nirapada Mandal (41 years), a private labourer residing at CARI Road, Bathu Basti, Sri Vijaya Puram. After following the due process of law, a search of the house was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses and the house owner. During the house search, 2.145 Kg of Ganja was recovered. The recovered substance was subjected to a preliminary examination using the Drug Detection Kit, which confirmed it to be Ganja. The contraband was seized, and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities under the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is in progress to identify the supply chain.
The raid was conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Police Station team led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, under the supervision of Smt. Suma Madda, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and the overall supervision of Shri Jitendra Kumar Meena, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID), A&N Islands.
