
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 20: The Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration, under the District Action Plan (DAP) 2026–27 of the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) for South Andaman District in association with the Fishery Survey of India (FSI), Zonal Base, Sri Vijaya Puram, organized a two-day training programme on ‘Repair and Maintenance of Marine Diesel Engines’ at the Fish Landing Centre (FLC), Guptapara, Ferrargunj Block, on 19th and 20th August, 2026. The training emphasized the importance of timely maintenance and proper handling of engines to ensure their efficient operation and reduce the likelihood of breakdowns at sea.
The training programme was conducted with the technical support of the Shri. B. Balanayak, Mechanical Marine Engineer & other officials of FSI, along with other representatives of Department of Fisheries & Sagar Mitras. The participants were provided with practical guidance on routine maintenance, basic repair, troubleshooting and safe operation of marine diesel engines used in fishing vessels.
On successful completion of the programme, training certificates and tools were distributed to all 20 participants to encourage them to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training in their day-to-day fishing activities.
