
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 20: A 15-day short-term skill development training program on handicrafts, initiated by the Directorate of Industries commenced today at the Guptapara Panchayat. The program aims to empower local youth, SHGs and artisans by equipping them with sustainable crafting and livelihood skills utilizing local materials like coconut shell, wood, cane and bamboo, and coir.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Guptapara Panchayat Pradhan, Shri Durlav Das alongside PRI member Smti. Alladi Roy who commended the Directorate of Industries for bringing this valuable initiative to the area and encouraged the 20 participating trainees to make the most of the opportunity to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.
During the training, participants will receive hands-on training in designing, carving, treating, and finishing marketable products, promoting both traditional craftsmanship and sustainable green livelihoods.
