Shrihaan Karmakar from A&N Islands Secures Runner-Up Position in Chess U-13 Category at Chennai

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 7: Young chess talent Shrihaan Karmakar has brought pride to Andaman & Nicobar by securing the Runner-Up position in the Under-13 Category at the Viyugam Chess Academy – International FIDE Rated Below 1700 Chess Tournament 2026, held at the Hall of Chess, JN Stadium, Chennai.

Shrihaan displayed impressive skill, determination and consistency throughout the 9-round Swiss-system tournament. He finished the championship with 6 points, securing the Runner-Up position in the Under-13 Category among a strong field of players.

His achievement in the Under-13 category is a significant accomplishment and reflects his growing potential in competitive chess.

R. Siddharth also represented Andaman & Nicobar in the tournament. He put up a commendable performance in the competitive field, finishing the 9-round championship with 4.5 points and gaining valuable experience and exposure by competing against players from different parts of the country.
