Under the guidance and leadership of Chief Secretary, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the new facility reaffirms the Administration Commitment to providing accessible, equitable and quality health care to rural population. “This new facility at Dr. RP Hospital is a testament to our continuous efforts to provide quality and accessible healthcare to our rural communities,” said Ms. Nandini Maharaj, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman.

This development is expected to substantially enhance the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of medical care for the rural population of North and Middle Andaman. The facility has been thoughtfully planned to ensure that healthcare delivery is both comprehensive and patient-centric, with special focus on inclusivity and comfort.

The modern medical facility includes several specialized units. On the ground floor, there is a well-equipped Labour Room, Labour Ward, Post-Operative Ward, Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), Children’s Unit (CU), and other Critical Departments. The facility includes specialist Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatric services. These units are designed to cater to a wide spectrum of medical needs across different age groups and patient categories.

To further enhance patient’s comfort and convenience, the new building is equipped with a spacious waiting hall and attached toilets in every ward, promoting hygiene and ensuring a more dignified patient experience. The facility is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring both a lift and staircases to enable seamless movement for patients, attendants, and healthcare staff across all floors.

The first floor accommodates the male, female, and paediatric wards, along with designated rooms for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs). The second floor houses the Integrated Public Health Laboratory (IPHL), further expanding the diagnostic and testing capabilities of the hospital as part of the overall infrastructure enhancement.

Overall, this upgraded infrastructure marks a significant leap toward improved healthcare delivery and is expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring better, faster, and more accessible medical services for the people of the district.
