
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 14: It is a matter of great honour and pride for A&N Police that Two (02) of its officers have been conferred prestigious ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’ for their illustrious and unblemished service on the occasion of 80th Independence Day, 2026. The awards were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of the Independence Day, 2026.
SH. J. SENTHIL, AS. COMDT.
Shri J.Senthil had joined India Reserve Battalion, A&N Islands on 23rd June 2006 as a Sub-Inspector. Since beginning of his career in Police, he excelled in his trainings and service. He has demonstrated exceptional professional competence, leadership and dedication throughout his service since joining as Sub-Inspector in 2006. He has excelled in various advanced training courses and distinguished himself in commando, weapon-handling, anti-poaching, training and operational assignments. During deputation with the Ministry of External Affairs, he rendered exemplary security, VVIP, diplomatic liaison and consular assistance in Pakistan and Russia, including during critical emergencies. He has also performed commendably in Battalion administration, VVIP security and major events.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, professionalism and meritorious service, he has been conferred the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’.
Sh. BASANTA PAL, HC(SG)/2440
PC/2440 Basanta Pal of A&N Police joined as a Constable in 2002 and has rendered over two decades of dedicated and exemplary service with integrity, discipline and professionalism. During his service career, he has efficiently performed duties relating to law and order, recruitment and administration.
At Police Headquarters, he has effectively assisted in law and order planning, meetings, election-related assignments and various administrative duties, discharging his responsibilities with diligence, efficiency and a high degree of professionalism.
Throughout his career, PC/2440 Basanta Pal has consistently demonstrated devotion to duty, reliability, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. His sincere and dedicated service, professional conduct and commitment to organisational responsibilities have contributed meaningfully to the effective functioning of the A&N Police. His long and commendable service is worthy of appreciation and recognition.
