Outreach Health Camp and School Health Program Oranised at Mayabunder

Mayabunder, Jan. 16: As part of the ongoing public health outreach initiatives, an Outreach Health Camp and School Health Program were successfully conducted during January 2026 under Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) Mohanpur, under the supervision of Dr. Alice Bwa, Medical Officer In-charge, Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder.

An outreach health camp was organized at Borang yesterday to provide essential healthcare services to the local population. The camp was led by Dr. Haney Nickyson, along with a multidisciplinary team comprising Saw Zenial (MHW), Hermeena Tirkey (LHV), S. Punnawati (Community Health Officer), Thangam (Panchakarma), Y. Madhava Rao (District Programme Coordinator – NTEP), R. Durga Rao (Senior Treatment Supervisor – NTEP), Sanjitha Soreng (TB Health Visitor – NTEP) and Roshni Dung Dung (ASHA Worker).

General medical consultations were provided, medicines were distributed, and patients requiring further evaluation were referred to Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder for blood investigations, X-ray, and sputum examination.

Health education formed an important component of the camp. A CPR awareness session with practical demonstration was conducted, followed by a Tuberculosis awareness programme covering causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment adherence, follow-up, and information on Nikshay Poshan Yojana & Nikshay Mitra. A total of 42 beneficiaries participated, with 31 patients examined, including initiation of treatment for newly detected hypertension cases and review of follow-up cases of hypertension and diabetes. The medical team also conducted home visits for a bedridden geriatric patient and an old cured TB patient.

Earlier, on Jan. 13, an Outreach School Health Program and Medical Health Camp was conducted at Haratikry by a team consisting of R. Durga Rao (STS–NTEP), Sanjitha (TBHV–NTEP), Gokila (Public Health Nurse), Punnawati (Community Health Officer), Sunitha (ANM) and Maxima (ASHA Worker). School children were screened for height, weight, hemoglobin levels, dental and ear health, and TD vaccination was administered to eligible students. Health education sessions on balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, hand washing practices, yoga, and mindfulness were also conducted, along with inspection of Mid-Day Meal quality and hygiene.
