Team of 48 Youths from A&N Islands Deliver Outstanding Performance at the IndiaSkills Regional Competition at Bhubaneswar

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 3: The youth of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands have once again demonstrated their growing strength in technical excellence and vocational competence by delivering an outstanding performance at the IndiaSkills Regional Competition held at Bhubaneswar from 27.02.2026 onwards.

Competing against some of the most talented participants from across Eastern India, Team Andaman & Nicobar Islands showcased remarkable technical proficiency, creativity, discipline, and competitive spirit in both onsite and offsite skill events. The team, comprising 48 competitors across various trades, participated with dedication, professional confidence, and exemplary teamwork. The strategic guidance and the structured training ecosystem of the ITIs culminated in an impressive medal haul of 13 medals, reflecting the strong foundation of skill development and vocational training in the Islands.

The team secured 04 Gold Medals, 05 Silver Medals, and 04 Medallions of Excellence, marking one of the most commendable performances by the Islands at the regional skill competition level and firmly establishing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as an emerging hub of skill excellence in the eastern region of the country.

The Gold and Silver medallists are now likely to represent the Andaman & Nicobar Islands at the forthcoming IndiaSkills National Competition, scheduled towards the end of March 2026. Apart from the above achievements, Team Andaman & Nicobar Islands received a walkover in the skills of Visual Merchandising and Intelligent Security Technology, and the UT skill competitors in these skills will directly compete at the said National-level competition. Winners at the national level will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent India at the WorldSkills Competition in September 2026 to be held at Shanghai, China, a global platform where the finest skilled youth from across the world compete for excellence. The contingent was led by Shri Venketesh Ch., Principal ITI / Deputy Apprenticeship Advisor, along with Shri Prabhu Raj, Vocational Instructor, and Ms. Anisha Ahmed, Trainer from ITI Dollygunj.

This outstanding achievement sends a powerful and inspiring message to the aspirational youth of the Islands. Skill Development and Vocational Training are no longer secondary career options; they are dynamic, industry-driven, and globally recognized pathways leading to employment, entrepreneurship, and international exposure. The success of Team Andaman & Nicobar Islands proves that with structured training, institutional support, and dedicated effort, Island youth can compete with the best in the country and beyond.

Young students, school leavers, and job aspirants are encouraged to actively enroll in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), apprenticeship programs, and other structured vocational training schemes to build industry-relevant competencies. The Administration remains committed to strengthening the skill ecosystem and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through technical education and workforce development.

The achievement at IndiaSkills Regional (East) 2025–26 is not merely a medal count; it is a milestone in the journey towards a skilled, self-reliant, and globally competitive Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
