
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 10: A two-day workshop on World of Work (WoW) was inaugurated today at PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Prothrapur. The workshop is being conducted as a collaborative initiative between the National Assessment Centre PARAKH, NCERT, New Delhi, and the State Institute of Education (SIE), A&N Islands.
This initiative marks a significant step toward realizing the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, particularly in promoting skill development and vocational education among students of Classes IX and X in PM SHRI schools across all States and Union Territories.
Inaugurating the workshop, Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, Head & CEO of PARAKH and Educational Survey Division, NCERT, emphasized the growing importance of introducing students to the World of Work at the secondary stage.
The workshop sessions will be facilitated by resource persons from PARAKH and were designed to orient students towards both traditional and non-traditional career pathways. The sessions introduced participants to 36 emerging job sectors identified by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, as well as to global trends such as Artificial Intelligence and future technologies.
The workshop witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 80 students from Classes IX and X, along with their respective class teachers.
