AATO Delegation Meets BJP State President to Discuss Air Flight Problems

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 10: A Delegation of AATO Members called on the BJP State President A&N Islands, Shri. Anil Kumar Tiwari today to discuss about flight problems. After listening to the issues raised, Shri Anil Kumar Tiwari has promised a quick action and suggested to take a Delegation of members from AATO to Delhi and meet the Civil Aviation Minister to fix these issues.

The Problems Raised Included:

Fewer Flights: Airlines suddenly stop many flights when the busy tourist season ends, even though people still need to travel.

High Ticket Prices: One-way tickets to Chennai often cost ₹15,000 to ₹20,000. This is sometimes more expensive than flying to other countries like Thailand or Malaysia.

Local Business Loss: Because tickets are so expensive, fewer tourists come, which hurts our hotels, taxis, and shops.

No International Flights: We lost our only flight to Malaysia because of high fees at the Port Blair airport.

Baggage Issues: Only 15kg of luggage is allowed, which is not enough since flying is our only real way to travel.

Fixed Number of Flights: Airlines must keep a minimum number of flights running all year round.

Advance Planning: Flight schedules should be fixed at least 3 months in advance so people can plan their trips.

Cheaper Airport Fees: Reduce the cost for planes to park at our airport to bring back international flights.

More Baggage: Allow at least 20kg of check-in luggage for all flights to and from Port Blair.
