
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 10: Demonstrating its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse in the islands, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, along with the Dog Squad Team, conducted two successful anti-narcotics operations on 08 March 2026 at VSI Airport, Lamba Line, Sri Vijaya Puram, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit Ganja weighing 12.390 Kg and the arrest of two accused persons.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Inspector Vikash Singh, SHO, conducted the first operation. The team comprised ASI Sanjay Yadav, ASI S. Thimmi Raj, HC/Laxman Rao, PC/Anup, PC/M.Raja Rao, LPC/Nandita Mistry, along with Dog Handler with Sniffer Dog and PC/Santosh Kumar Yadav.
During the operation, the team intercepted Ujjwal Khan (29 yrs), S/o Shri Ashok Khan, Private Worker, R/o Dollygunj, Sri Vijaya Puram, Permanent Address: L. Dey Road, Dulminadiha, Purulia, West Bengal, who arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram from Kolkata on 08.03.2026 via Air India Express. Upon checking his luggage, 9.230 Kg of Ganja was recovered, which had been clandestinely concealed in his bag. The contraband was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities under NDPS Act.
In another operation conducted on the same day, a second team of the Anti-Narcotics Police Station comprising SI Manoj Lal, SI A. Santhosh, ASI Surya Narayan, PC/B.Santhosh Kumar, HC/Ratan Das, HC/Mohd. Imran, and HC/Tamil Selvam, along with the same Dog Squad Team, intercepted Sk Bhantu @ Bhantu (28 yrs), S/o Shri Sk Majed, Private Labourer, R/o Samsabad, District Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, presently residing at Bhathubasti near Punjab National Bank.
The accused had arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram from Kolkata on 08.03.2026 via Indigo Airlines. During the search, 3.160 Kg of Ganja was recovered from his bag where it had concealed. The contraband was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after following all codal formalities under NDPS Act.
Both operations were conducted under the supervision of Smti. Yogita Sharma, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and the overall supervision of Shri Jitendra Kumar Meena, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID), A&N Islands.
