
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 30: As part of the nationwide commemoration of 150 years of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’, the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration organized a programme of mass singing of National Song “Vande Mataram” at Cellular Jail on March 25, 2026. The 150-year commemoration of the national song, being celebrated across the country under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India from November 7, 2025 to November 7, 2026, included a special phase dedicated to ‘Shaheedi Diwas’ from March 23 to 30, 2026. This phase honoured the supreme sacrifices of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru.
Members of ‘Sur Saptak’ led a soulful mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ on the occasion. The event witnessed active participation from the tourists and visitors, reflecting a shared sense of pride and patriotism. The gathering was marked by a spirit of unity and reverence for the cultural and historical importance of the national song.
The supreme sacrifices laid by our national heroes Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were paid rich tributes during the programme which concluded on a note of collective pride, with participants reaffirming their commitment to the ideals embodied in the National Song.
