Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 4: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), A&N Administration, conducted a Veterinary Health and Infertility Camp on July 31, 2025, in Ward No. 3, Delanipur, under the jurisdiction of the Veterinary Hospital, Junglighat. The camp, held at farmers’ premises, was led by Dr. Ramakrishnan, Senior Veterinary Officer, with supporting staff from the Veterinary Hospital. The initiative aimed to address infertility issues in cattle and provide general healthcare services to enhance livestock productivity and support the farming community.
A total of 31 cattle were examined and treated, including 20 adult cattle, 10 calves, 27 female cattle, and 1 heifer. Veterinary teams diagnosed and treated specific conditions, including one case each of Cervicitis, Metritis, Anoestrus, and Mastitis. Treatments included administration of medications such as Buserelin Acetate injection, Amoxycillin with Sulbactam injection, Meloxicam, Albendazole Liquid Dewormer, and Oxyclozanide Liquid Dewormer. Additionally, digestive and mineral powder supplements were provided to improve animal health, and milk production enhancement powder was distributed to support dairy output.
The camp emphasized the importance of targeted veterinary interventions to address reproductive challenges and improve livestock health, enabling farmers to achieve better economic returns. By providing on-site treatments and supplements, the initiative addressed immediate health concerns while promoting sustainable animal husbandry practices.
This effort underscores the AH&VS Department’s commitment to enhancing livestock health and productivity in the A&N Islands. The active participation of farmers in Delanipur highlights their dedication to improving animal welfare. The Department plans to continue such outreach programs across other wards to ensure access to veterinary services, aligning with the A&N Administration’s vision of supporting rural livelihoods and sustainable agricultural development.
