ANACS in Association with PTS Organises Mainstreaming Training on HIV, AIDS, STIs and HIV & AIDS

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 11: Mainstreaming Training on HIV, AIDS, STIs and HIV & AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017 organized by A&N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) in association with Police Training School, Prothrapur, A&N Islands on 9th June 2025. Around 45 Police Personnel from the Police Training School participated in the program.

The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, A&N AIDS Control Society. 

Dr. Jahanara Yasmeen, DD (MS & IEC) and Shri. Santosh Baghel, AD (Documentation) from ANACS, conducted an informative session through Power Point Presentation and Awareness videos focused on the prevention and control of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) along with HIV & AIDS (Prevention and Control) ACT, 2017 which protects the rights of people living with HIV. Session also included rights-based approaches while dealing with vulnerable communities, including LGBTQ individuals and female sex workers. The session encouraged open conversations, cleared common myths, and emphasized the need to end stigma and discrimination around HIV.

The initiative was to equip participants with accurate information about HIV, STIs with a strong focus on the HIV & AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017. The session aimed to help them understand their vital role in protecting the rights and dignity of individuals living with HIV, as outlined in the Act and break the stigma surrounding them, encourage preventive practices, and make voluntary testing easily accessible right at their doorstep.
